What areas can be treated?
Aqualyx® can be used on the following areas to treat stubborn pockets of fat;
How long does it last?
- Stomach (inc. six pack definition)
- Love handles
- Flanks and waist
- Inner and outer thighs
- Area under the buttocks
- Underarms and armpits
- Underarms and armpits
The results of an Aqualyx® treatment are permanent as long as the patient is maintaining a constant weight measurement (i.e. assuming you do not gain weight, eat healthy and exercise regularly).
Which patients are suitable?
Aqualyx® is a body contouring treatment not a weight loss solution. Treatments with Aqualyx® are only applicable for small, localised areas and patients must be within 1 stone of their ideal weight.
How does it work?
Aqualyx® works by breaking down cell membranes to liquify the fat cell destroying it permanently, releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system. The procedure consists of a set of injections, administered 3-4 weeks apart, into the targeted area.
What can I expect during treatment?
After a pre-treatment consultation, the area of concern will be marked out. Aqualyx® is mixed with Lidocaine (anaesthetic) before injection for greater comfort and a number of injections will be administered to make sure the area is fully covered.
What results can I expect to see?
*A reduction in fat in the targeted area can be noted a number of weeks post-treatment. The speed at which noticeable results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger clients are more likely to see results after a longer period. In very small fat pads, the desired results can already be seen after one treatment.
Who can’t have treatment?
As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment. However, Aqualyx® is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breast feeding. It is also not recommended for those people who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or any pathological conditions.
Why not just exercise and diet?
You pay close attention to a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet, yet that one pad of fat that troubles you most will not disappear? The cause for this lies within our genetics and the special structure of our fat cells in certain areas. The human body naturally stores fat in order to supply energy in times of restraint. Fat cells located in the subcutaneous fat tissue are difficult to diminish, as only their contents and overall volume can be altered, but not the fat cells themselves. These particular fat cells cannot be reduced and continuously serve as a reliable depot for the body to store fat.
As Aqualyx® is a non-surgical solution it means there are no general anaesthetic risks. As there are no incisions and stitches are not required, scarring is therefore very unlikely. People treated with Aqualyx® will typically experience minimal side effects when compared to more invasive procedures, such as liposuction.
There are some temporary side effects which include bruising, swelling, redness and irritation in the injection area. The treated area may feel slightly tender to touch, numb or itchy but these side effects usually subside after 1-3 days but may last up to 4 weeks. The manufacturers report that to date no major side effects of Aqualyx® use have been reported to them.
