Why Choose MINT™ PDO Threads?

Mint are the premium brand of PDO thread available.

PDO threads are brilliant for lifting, tightening sagging skin and for giving a rejuvenating appearance.

MINT threads are used to lift brow, mid or lower face (jowls), neck or arms they reposition and revitalizing overall skin tissue, providing a natural lift and tightening.

They work by mechanically lifting the tissue to stich it into a lifted position and also stimulate your own natural collagen production, to improve skin elasticity, texture, fine lines and volume for lasting rejuvenation.

Is a MINT PDO Thread Lift Suitable for me?

In order to ascertain this you will book a "thread lift consultation" with one of our thread lift doctors. The area you wish to treat will be assessed and examined and you will be advised if a thread lift is a suitable treatment for you and what type of treatment results you can expect. Any alternative treatments or combined treatments (which are often required) will be discussed. You will be given before and after treatment care advice to prepare you for treatment if you do wish to go ahead.

How does a Thread Lift work?

Threads are dissolvable stitches that promote collagen and elastin production. A thread has etched or coned structures that enable it to hook into and lift the tissue beneath the skin. The material from which the thread is made then stimulates collagen production in the skin.

A Thread Lift operates in two ways:
Firstly, it mechanically lifts the skin, instantly providing a lifted appearance to the face, acting as a non-surgical facelift. Secondly, over the following months, the threads stimulate the body's collagen production, resulting in a smooth, naturally lifted appearance.

What can I expect after a PDO Thread Lift?

Depending on the area treated the downtime varies; with neck and arms normally very little recovery time required and most clients feel the arms and neck look good several days after treatment with some mild bruising only. If the face has been treated you can expect some puckering of the skin, swelling and the area which has been treated can feel sore for around 7-10 days after the treatment.

Treatment FAQs

What is a PDO thread?

PDO is a thread made of Polydioxanone — a clinically proven material already used in surgical sutures. It’s a choice of material for a thread facelift as it naturally and safely breaks down and dissolves in the body.

What age should I have a thread lift/ am I suitable?

Patients are typically aged between 45 to 65 years. The average age of a thread lift client at Dr Leah Clinic in our most recent audit was 51.

Also, if you have a hooked nose you may be suitable for nose threads within the clinic. This will all be down to the bespoke consultation you will receive prior to treatment.

You must also be in overall good health and have realistic expectations of the treatment. Facelift threading is best suited for those who want to enhance their appearance without resorting to cosmetic surgery.

Does a thread lift hurt?

No – before the thread lift procedure begins, your Dr Leah clinician will inject a local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area and prevent pain.

Can I combine my thread lift treatments?

Yes, the majority of thread lift patients combine the treatment with other treatments such as Ultherapy to tighten the skin prior to lifting, or small amounts of dermal filler after thread lift to enhance the result. These treatments are offered at a discounted rate at your follow up appointment after thread lift treatment.

What is the difference between Silhouette Soft, Thread Lift and PDO Thread?

They are different types of thread material with Silhouette Soft being the premium thread in the PLLA threadlift material range and MINT being the premium thread in the PDO threadlift material range.

PDO threads tend to give a stronger lift but produce a different type of collagen to Silhouette Soft (type of collagen from Silhouette soft is regarded as better). They tend to give more plumping/rejuvenation. PLLA threads (Silhouette Soft threads) produce a more subtle lifting result but create type 1 collagen which gives a better long term ageing prevention benefit and produce less plumping than PDO threads.

The benefit of attending a threads centre such as Dr Leah Clinics is that we offer both types of threads as well as a range of alternative treatments and our doctors are experienced in all types of non surgical lifting so can advise which is best for you.

SHOULD I HAVE PDO THREADS OR SILHOUETTE SOFT THREADS?

If you require plumping / volumisation as well as a subtle lift, then PDO is the best option. If you do not require additional volume but require a reasonable lift, then Silhouette Soft is the best option. If you are unsure which type of thread lift is best, then your Dr Leah Clinics doctor will be able to advise which is best for you at your consultation.

If you have a lot of facial volume or have had multiple PDO lifts in the past then Silhouette soft are probably better. If you have a lot of sagging and would benefit from a stronger lift and some plumping / volumisation then PDO threads are recommended.

A thread lift consultation is performed by our thread lift doctor prior to any treatment to determine the correct thread lift treatment for you.

WHICH DR LEAH CLINICS PROVIDE THE TREATMENT?

Thread lift treatments are performed at either our Baker Street clinic or our Loughton clinic.

HOW LONG WILL MY THREAD LIFT RESULTS LAST?

Up to 18 months, at which point the treatment can be repeated.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY THREAD LIFT TREATMENT?

At your consultation with Dr Leah Clinic your doctor will discuss in depth the aftercare which you will have to follow after your procedure. Any movement in the treated areas will decrease the overall results of the thread lifting and so it is important to avoid exercise for 7-14 days aside from gentle walks. You will also need to sleep on your back for 5 nights. You are likely to have obvious marks on the face for around 5 days after the treatment so we advise you may want to avoid social activities during this period.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF A THREAD LIFT?

Some patients notice some bruising and swelling immediately after their procedure. Other common side effects visible for the first 5 days are puckering of the skin and dimples. We generally advise 5 days of work following a thread lift procedure.
