What is the treatment process for Mandelic acid peel and microneedling?
- On the day of your appointment if you are a new client you should arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete a medical questionnaire and if you would like to have anaesthetic applied please request this on arrival.
- Your Dr Leah practitioner will then take you into the treatment room and perform a cleanse of your face, they will be able to assess your skin type and treatment goals and determine which depth of microneedling you need on each area of your face. The depth of the needle punctures can be manually changed by the practitioner so different depth of treatment can be applied to different areas of the face and depending on your concern. For example if you have acne scarring on your cheeks your practitioner will suggest doing a deeper treatment over that area of your face. Your practitioner will also be able to tell you how many Mandelic Acid Peel with microneedling sessions you are going to require to achieve your goals (3,6,9 treatments)
- First the microneedling will be applied over your skin, puncturing it with 1300 channels into the skin every second. It will feel uncomfortable (like a scratching feeling) but not painful. The actual needling itself takes between 10-15 minutes.
- Mandelic Acid Peel solution will then be applied to your skin immediately after microneedling treatment, when your skin channels are open, to give an enhanced skin result.
- SPF will then be applied to protect your skin and aftercare advice will be discussed. Your aesthetic therapist will advise you how soon you should have your next Mandelic Acid Peel with microneedling treatment (between 4-6 weeks) and will schedule this for you.
You will book for treatment and on the day of your treatment, your aesthetic skin therapist will assess your skin and advise if you are also suitable for the uber peel, your advantaged skin therapist will also be able to advise how many sessions will be necessary to achieve your skin goals (either 3 or 6 sessions).
To ensure the best results and avoid irritation, please refrain from using any active ingredients for 5 days before and after your treatments. Active ingredients include benzoyl peroxide, retinol, salicylic acid, glycolic acid and vitamin C serum. We recommend using only a gentle cleanser and a gentle moisturiser during this period. We highly recommend using a medical grade SPF 50 following your treatment.
