What causes unwanted hair growth?
Most people (male and female) have fine hairs all over the face and body. Some people just naturally have more and/or thicker body hair than others. However, certain factors can trigger a noticeable increase in hair growth even if you've never had problems with unwanted hair in the past.
Hirsutism is the medical term for cases where women experience excessive hair growth in male-pattern areas like the face, chest, back, etc. Common causes for excessive female hair growth include:

Laser light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The laser's light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.
Soprano ICE laser hair removal is suitable for most people, but people with light skin and dark hair tend to see the best results. For clients with fair hair, Dr Leah Clinics offer unwanted hair removal with the Alexandrite Soprano ICE laser (which is better at treating fairer hair types). Grey / white hair has no melanin and so is not suitable for treatment.
During treatment, the laser light is aimed at a patch of hairy skin and a short pulse of light is released. This pulse targets many hair follicles simultaneously, gradually heating the follicles as the handpiece is passed over the same spot repeatedly. (Some of our clients have said this feels like a hot stone massage!) The laser is then moved to the adjacent patch of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area has been treated. This process is safe and painless.
