How does non-surgical chin and jawline reshaping work?

The doctors here at Dr Leah Clinics can use dermal fillers in the chin and jawline to:

  • Give males and females a more defined, stronger jaw
  • Lift a sagging lower face and poorly-defined jawline
  • Treat a ‘weak’ retracted chin to give a more balanced and attractive profile
  • Improve the overall proportion of your face to enhance the beauty and definition of your lower face.

Who are chin fillers suitable for?

Chin fillers are suitable for anyone who has a short, retracted or 'weak' chin. Female patients benefit from an enhanced chin to create a more feminine look and create that beautiful heart-shaped face. Men can use chin filler to give the appearance of a stronger chin. Both genders can have chin fillers to reduce the appearance of a chin dimple.

Who are jaw fillers suitable for?

Jawline filler is suitable for anyone who wants to improve the definition of their jaw, either because a defined jaw is not something they naturally have or because the jaw has become poorly defined due to age or weight gain. For both males and females, a sharply-defined jaw is a desirable trait thought to improve a person’s overall attractiveness. It can also help to balance other facial features such as the nose or forehead.

Chin and jaw filler FAQs

How long does jawline filler last?

Jawline filler typically lasts for 15 to 18 months, after which time the treatment can be easily repeated. Duration of results can vary depending on individual factors.

What does a jawline filler treatment involve?

First, you will have a face-to-face consultation with one of our experienced doctors. If you are happy to proceed with treatment on the day, your doctor will inject dermal filler into the chin or jaw (or both). Results are instant with little to no downtime.

Does jaw filler hurt?

Chin and jaw filler injections do not tend to be very painful. The dermal fillers we use here at Dr Leah Clinics contain a built-in anaesthetic which makes the procedure more comfortable.

What is the best jawline filler?

We use several different types of filler for the jawline, depending on the client's desired result and the overlying tissue.

Is chin filler permanent?

No – we do not use permanent fillers. The dermal filler we use will dissolve on its own within 15 – 18 months. It can also be dissolved using hyalase if required.

How long does chin filler take to settle?

Chin filler is normally well tolerated with little swelling (although bruising can occur), so final results are normally visible after 3 or 4 days. After 2 weeks, if you're unhappy with your chin filler results, you can make a follow-up appointment with your doctor for review.

What are the risks of jawline filler?

The jaw is one of the safest areas on the face to have dermal filler, and our fillers are generally very well tolerated with few side effects or complications. Swelling can occur, but is not as noticeable as dermal filler swelling in other areas of the face (such as after lip filler). Bruising can occur and this can last up to 10 days. Full risks will be discussed on the day of your jawline or chin filler treatment.

Who is chin filler not suitable for?

You should not have dermal fillers of any kind (including chin and jawline fillers) if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. We do not treat clients who are under 18 years of age. This procedure will only be performed after a face-to-face consultation with one of our doctors, during which a full assessment will be carried out and a full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

Covid vaccinations notice / disclaimer

Covid-19, as well as the Covid-19 vaccinations, challenge the immune system by over-stimulating its response. Therefore both the illness and the vaccine can lead to complications after injection. Nodules and local reactions can occur within weeks, months, or even years after the treatment when our immune system is challenged.

So far, there is generally a low incidence of such cases reported. Your safety is paramount to us, so we offer the following advice:

- Do not have dermal fillers, Profhilo, or anti-wrinkle injections 2 weeks before your planned vaccination or less than 3 weeks afterwards.

- If you have been infected with Covid-19, do not have dermal fillers, Profhilo, or anti-wrinkle injections for the first 3 weeks of being symptom-free.

- If you develop any symptoms after your treatment, please contact Dr Leah Clinics immediately. Our doctors will advise you further. As medical practitioners, our doctors can prescribe the necessary medication if required.
