Why combine BBL Hero® and MOXI?

BBL Hero and MOXI complement one another because they use different technologies.

BBL Hero is particularly effective when pigmentation, redness and visible sun damage are contributing to an uneven complexion. MOXI works fractionally within the skin to encourage renewal, collagen production and improvements in texture.

When used together, the treatment can therefore address both skin tone and skin texture, providing a more comprehensive approach than either technology may provide alone for patients with multiple concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do BBL and MOXI cost?

The cost of BBL HERO® and MOXI® depends on whether the treatments are performed individually or together, the areas being treated and your personalised treatment plan. During your consultation, we will assess your skin concerns and recommend the most appropriate approach before confirming the cost. A course of treatments may be recommended where more significant pigmentation, sun damage or textural concerns are present.

What is the downside of MOXI laser?

MOXI is designed to offer skin rejuvenation with relatively minimal downtime, but temporary side effects can include redness, warmth, mild swelling, dryness and a rough, sandpaper-like texture. Pigmentation may also appear temporarily darker as the skin renews. Results develop gradually, and some patients require several treatments. As with any laser procedure, appropriate patient selection and aftercare are important for reducing the risk of complications.

Is MOXI laser worth the money?

MOXI can be worthwhile for patients who want to improve pigmentation, uneven tone, texture and early signs of ageing without the downtime associated with more aggressive resurfacing treatments. Its value ultimately depends on your concerns and the results you are hoping to achieve. If redness or more visible sun damage is also present, combining MOXI with BBL HERO may provide a more comprehensive treatment approach.

Is MOXI better than microneedling?

MOXI and microneedling work differently, so one is not necessarily better than the other. MOXI uses fractional laser energy and can be particularly useful for uneven pigmentation, sun damage, texture and early signs of ageing. Microneedling mechanically creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen and may be recommended for concerns such as texture and certain types of acne scarring. Your skin assessment will determine which is more appropriate.

How many MOXI treatments do I need?

The number of MOXI treatments required depends on your skin, concerns and desired outcome. Some patients choose a single treatment to refresh their complexion, while a course may be recommended for more established pigmentation, sun damage or textural concerns. Maintenance treatments can also be incorporated into a longer-term skin programme. Your practitioner will recommend a personalised treatment schedule following consultation.

What hurts more, microneedling or laser?

Comfort varies considerably between individuals and also depends on the intensity of the treatment. Microneedling can feel prickly or scratchy, while MOXI may create a warm, prickling sensation as the laser passes across the skin. It is therefore difficult to say that one universally hurts more than the other. Treatment settings and appropriate comfort measures can be tailored to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

What is better than MOXI?

There is no single treatment that is universally better than MOXI. The best technology depends on the skin concern being treated. For example, BBL HERO may be more appropriate for prominent redness or certain pigmentation concerns, while more intensive resurfacing treatments may be considered for more advanced textural changes. For patients with both uneven colour and texture, combining BBL HERO + MOXI can provide a more comprehensive approach than MOXI alone.
