BOTOX LONDON AND BOTOX ESSEX TREATMENTS WITH DR LEAH CLINICS

At Dr Leah Clinic, patient safety is our priority. We use only Allergan BOTOX™, and it is performed only by our doctors (GMC/GDC registered) who are highly experienced, performing tens of thousands of Botox treatments every year.

The benefit of seeing a Dr Leah doctor is that they are highly experienced and conduct tens of treatments every single day.

The doctors will be able to adjust the dose and positioning of your Allergan Botox injections to give you the result you desire. This will be discussed with you before treatment and means you have the choice of removing all movement or you can have it injected in a way that does not freeze the upper face entirely. Our doctors can also adjust eyebrow position to lift or arch brows for a Botox brow lift or give more brow symmetry. Our doctors can Botox forehead lines and even smooth outlines at the side of the forehead above the brows, which other less experienced Botox practitioners are often not confident to treat. If you have had issues with the brow feeling heavy in the past after Botox, our doctors are skilled at performing the treatment to prevent this.

Our doctors can also use Botox to treat other concerns such as using gummy smile Botox to reduce the look of an overly visible gum line, to Masseter Botox which slims the jaw and aids teeth grinding, or to stop excessive underarm sweating.

WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?

Our anti-wrinkle injections involve injecting small quantities of Botulinum Toxin (BOTOX™) into specific muscles using a tiny needle; this smooths lines and wrinkles by stopping the muscle from moving. As the muscle no longer contracts to cause crease lines, it creates a natural softening to dynamic lines and wrinkles and giving you a natural, fresh, and rejuvenated appearance.

While the Botox is working, these lines cannot get any deeper as you are not repeatedly creasing the skin, which is why people often have this treatment to prevent the formation of wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle injections do not remove deep, fixed lines, they may reduce them slightly, and they will stop them from getting worse. Still, if they are deep, you will also require either dermapen, laser resurfacing, or dermal filler. Your Dr Leah cosmetic doctor will be able to advise you on the day of your appointment if Botox is the right option for you or if another treatment is required to remove your lines.

Anti-wrinkle injections are the treatment of choice to smooth lines on the upper face but does not work to smooth lines on the lower face. For lines on the cheeks, between nose to mouth, lines on the top lip, or marionette lines - dermal filler is the best treatment option for the areas.

Botox is regarded as being safe and has been used to treat tens of millions of patients worldwide for both medical and cosmetic reasons over the past two decades - Botox is consistently the most popular cosmetic treatment performed globally with 7.7 million Cosmetic Botox treatments performed in the US alone in 2019. It is recognised as a medicine and is used widely in the NHS to treat medical issues such as irritable bladder, muscle contracture and spasms in much higher doses than we use it for cosmetically and as it is not a new treatment, we have long-term data on its safety profile.

When administered correctly, Botox will typically last for 3 – 4 months (however individual factors apply and some clients get a longer or shorter duration than this), Botox is not painful as ultrafine needles are used. However, it can be mildly uncomfortable, and if you would like, then we can apply a numbing cream to the area 10 minutes before treatment, which will make it entirely pain-free.

It is a quick, easy, and very effective treatment with little or no recovery time.

WHAT CAN BOTOX BE USED TO TREAT?

Botox is the treatment of choice for people who have lines on the upper face; you may hear people talk about having "Botox 3 areas," which refers to:

  • Botox forehead lines
  • Botox Frown lines
  • Crow's feet Botox - Wrinkles around their eyes

Botox is not used to smooth lines on the lower face – lines between nose to mouth or on lip or cheeks should be treated with dermal filler.

WHAT DOES HAVING BOTOX INVOLVE?

  • Botox is a doctor-only treatment. Your first step will be to book a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced cosmetic doctors.
  • You will either be booking in for a Botox London treatment or Botox Essex treatment at our respective clinics.
  • On the day of your consultation, your doctor will explain the treatment and advise if it is suitable for you. They will also recommend other treatments that you may benefit from. For example, if your lines are very deep and will not be removed by Botox alone, you may benefit from dermapen or i-pixel as this would decrease the wrinkle depth. If you have lines on your lower face, you may benefit from dermal filler as Botox cannot remove lines on the lower face.
  • Your doctor will also be able to recommend which skincare products will work best to enhance your anti-wrinkle injection result.
  • Providing there are no contraindications, and after the consultation, you wish to go ahead, you will be able to have your treatment on the same day, or if you prefer, you can re-book and come back another time to have the treatment.
  • If you wish to go ahead, consent will be taken, and pre-treatment photography will be accepted. Photography is strictly confidential and is used for medico-legal reasons so that we may compare the photograph to one which will be taken at your follow-up appointment. This will enable us to assess how you respond to Botox, which will help us establish the correct dose for you.
  • The treatment is not very painful as the needles we use are very fine, so we don't routinely numb clients; however, numbing cream can be applied for 10-15 minutes if you would like. Please request this either at reception on arrival at the clinic or when you enter the room for your consultation.
  • You will have a series of injections into the area you are having treated; the injection time is very quick and takes only around 5 minutes. Our doctors are highly experienced and perform this treatment tens of times per day to perform it quickly and effectively to reduce your discomfort.
  • Immediately after, there will be small marks / tiny lumps on the face where the product has been injected; they will go down after around 10 minutes.
  • We will be able to apply a cover-up to the area, which is approved and will not cause infection, but you should not apply any of your products (including makeup) over the area treated for at least 6 hours.
  • Your aftercare advice will be given – do not apply any makeup to the site for 6 hours, avoid exercise for 24 hours and avoid any blood thinners, including alcohol, for 24 hours.
  • If this is your first time having treatment with us, you will be booked for a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks, where your treatment can be topped-up free of charge if required, or any adjustments (drop brow or raise a brow, for example) can be made.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections Reviews

Here’s what our clients have to say…
The best Botox I have ever had! I am a 50 year old woman (ageing pretty well, or trying!) I have been having Botox injections since I was around 45, I have been to most of the big name clinics and paid anything up to £600 for three areas of Botox with “celebrity doctors” in the west end of London. I came to Dr Leah because she is a proper medical doctor and her reputation is really good so I felt I could trust her. I was not disappointed. Dr Leah was highly professional, she knows a lot about how the face ages, she listened to me and she seems to really love getting good results. Her prices are £20 more than the lady I went to last but still pretty cheap compared with other places I have been to in the past and for how well known she is. She uses the best type of Botox which I find lasts much longer than other types I had before. I have had problems with my Botox making my eyelids heavy in the past or not working at all, but Dr Leah got it perfect the first time. I have been coming for over a year, I wish I had have found her sooner! Would highly recommend but the only criticism is that she tends to be booked up so you will need to plan and book her in advance.

More about botox

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections typically refer to “Botox”.

What is Botox?

Botox is a medical drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving. This toxin is produced by the microbe that causes botulism, a type of food poisoning.

Botox by Allergan was the first drug to use botulinum toxin. Other products now include Dysport and Xeomin. Each is a little different, particularly when it comes to dosage units, so they aren't interchangeable.
Botox is widely used in the NHS to treat a range of health problems such as irritable bladder, muscle spasms, Muscle contractures in cerebral palsy.

Botox is administered as a muscle relaxing injection for the treatment of wrinkles- It also prevents new lines forming by relaxing the facial muscles and reducing excessive facial movements.

Do Botox injections hurt?

The procedure is done using a very fine needle, so it feels more like acupuncture than very painful, and most clients do not need numbing cream. If, however, you are needle-phobic or have any anxiety around pain, then numbing cream can be applied - if you would like this, please request this either at reception on arrival at the clinic so you can be numbed while waiting to see the doctor.

How many people have BOTOX?

Botox is consistently the most popular cosmetic treatment performed globally with 7.7 million Botox treatments performed in the US alone in 2019, an increase of 4% from 2018.

Botox is the most popular treatment for men as well as women – male Botox figures increased by 5% from 2018 to a total of 473,354 cases in the US in 2019.

Is Botox safe?

Botulinum Toxin is regarded as being safe and has been used to treat tens of millions of patients worldwide over the past two decades - Botox is consistently the most popular cosmetic treatment performed globally with 7.7 million Botox treatments performed in the US alone in 2019. It is recognised as a medicine and is used widely in the NHS to treat medical issues in a much higher doses than we use it for cosmetically and as it is not a new treatment, we have long-term data on its safety profile. At Dr Leah clinics safety is our priority and we minimise any potential risk by ensuring we use the premium Botox available - we use Allergan Botox and ensure all our Botox treatments are performed by our in clinic doctors / dentists (GMC/ GDC Registered) who have extensive clinical training and each has a minimum of 4 years experience and perform thousands of Botox treatments per year.

Who can not have Botox?

You should not have this treatment if:

• The injection site is infected.
• You are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have a neuromuscular disorder (e.g., myasthenia gravis)

A full list of side effects cautions, and contraindications will be discussed during your face-to-face consultation.

What is the Botox Aftercare?

You can carry on with your day as usual. However, we recommend the following:

• No makeup except that applied by your doctor on the day of treatment
• no exercise on the day of treatment (the next morning is fine)
• stay awake / not laying down for 4-6 hours after treatment (if possible)
• avoid saunas, hot baths on day of treatment
• Do not consume any alcohol or anti-inflammatory pain medication (NSAIDS or aspirin) BEFORE or After (on day) of your Botox treatment; this is related to your increased risk of bruising
• If you are prone to bruising then please commence arnica tablets, 5 per day for 3 days before your Botox treatment
• No other facial treatments in the same area as you have had Botox for two weeks after treatment e.g. facials, dermapen, laser (however it is fine to have dermal filler on same day as Botox as often they are done in the same consultation)

How long does Botox take to work?

This varies depending on the individual, normally Botox starts to work after 3-4 days with final result after 10-14 days. No review should be performed before 14 days as your result may continue to change up until this point.

Is Botox for men popular?

Yes Dr Leah Clinics perform a lot of Male Botox, our male clients often want to improve their appearance without it being obvious they have had Botox. Botox for men globally is becoming more and more popular, the US data shows that Botox is the most popular treatment for men as well as women – male Botox figures increased by 5% from 2018 to a total of 473,354 cases in the US in 2019 and the Botox for men in London figures reflect a similar increasing popularity.

Can Botox make wrinkles worse?

Dr Leah Clinic recommend treating 3 areas Botox in upper face so that all muscle groups are treated, as although you are technically having more Botox the result often looks more natural as the muscles work together and when one muscle group is not moving it can make the other muscles which work alongside it appear to move more.

If I don't repeat Botox, will it make my wrinkles worse?

The answer is no, if you choose not to have the treatment again when it wears off, your face will return to normal – however, there will be some benefit as the wrinkle depth will be 3-4 months less deep that if you have repeatedly been creasing that area for those 3-4 months.

How often can I have botox?

Botox can be repeated at a minimum of three monthly intervals, but the results may last longer for some people depending on individual factors such as muscle bulk / metabolism and if they have had previous treatments to the same area – typically speaking when you have botox regularly, the results last longer.

Is Botox London popular?

Botox is consistently the most popular cosmetic treatment performed globally with 7.7 million Botox treatments performed in the US alone in 2019, an increase of 4% from 2018.

Botox is the most popular treatment for men as well as women – male Botox figures increased by 5% from 2018 to a total of 473,354 cases in the US in 2019.

Botox London is the most popular cosmetic treatment available in London.

How much does Botox® Cost?

In price of Botox in the UK for three areas ranges from £250-£400, depending on the clinic and the location. The typical Botox Cost London is £350. The cost of Botox® is made up of the cost of the product itself and the service you receive. The following factors determine the cost, these are also features of service quality and safety:

• WHO PERFORMS THE TREATMENT AND LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE: Botox® is a skilled procedure and who performs the treatment will determine the cost – doctors typically cost more than nurses. At Dr Leah Clinic all Botox treatments are performed by doctors / dentists. Your Dr Leah doctor will usually undertake a full medical history before the procedure to ensure the treatment is safe to reduce the risk of complications such as infection and drooping of the eyebrow. The medical practitioner should have registration with their relevant regulatory authority. For all UK doctors this is the General Medical Council (GMC) or all UK dentists this is the General Dental Council (GDC) all Dr Leah Clinic doctors / dentists are fully registered with GMC/ GDC. The more experienced a doctor is at Botox the more they typically charge, Dr Leah Botox cost is higher than our other doctors.
• LOCATION AND SPEC OF CLINIC: Where the treatment is carried out will impact the price of Botox – Botox is a medical treatment and should be performed in a medical clinic, the price of that will be higher than if performed in your own home or a non clinical environment. Location of clinic will also affect price, Botox in London cost is typically more expensive than Botox elsewhere in UK else due to the cost of clinic facilities in London. At Dr Leah Clinic our Botox Essex cost is less than our Botox London cost and this reflects the difference in overheads between the areas.
• AFTERCARE AND FOLLOW UP: If a follow up is offered will often affect Botox price- it is good practice to offer a free follow up appointment so that the results of the treatment can be discussed and free top up given if needed, this is offered at Dr Leah Clinic.
• TYPE OF INSURANCE THEY HAVE: The level of insurance the practitioner has may also affect Botox price - practitioner should have appropriate insurance cover, also known as medical indemnity; this is to protect you if something goes wrong at Dr Leah Clinic we have the highest level of medical indemnity cover.
• BRAND OF BOTOX USED: Type of Botox used can also affect Botox price, at Dr Leah Clinic we offer Allergan Botox which is the premium brand available.
• DILUTION OF BOTOX: At Dr Leah Clinic we use the dilution recommended by Allergan Botox, it is important that you have the correct dilution as there have been reports in the media of unscrupulous practitioners injecting “fake botox” or giving very diluted doses in order to be able to offer cheap Botox.

Do I need a Top up after Botox?

If it is the first time you have had Botox you will be reviewed routinely at 14 days to review the result, you Botox result can be topped up or brow position tweaked if necessary at this time and this is free of charge at Dr Leah Clinics. Once we have established your dose you are unlikely to need a top up after each time you have treatment as we will know what dose you need and can give this in full in one treatment- however if you feel a top up is required it is provided free of charge 2 weeks after initial treatment.

Three areas of Botox is recommended over treating one of these areas in isolation as by treating one area you can get over-activity of the other areas.

It is not possible to treat forehead lines without treating frown area, both areas must be treated to prevent the forehead looking heavy which it can do if it is treated alone.

How long does Botox last?

The results of our anti-wrinkle injections usually last for around 3-4 months*. After that, you may wish to return for another treatment.

What are the side effects of Botox treatments?

Most side effects are short-lived and mild, the most common being mild bruising to the injection site. Some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours.
