Polynucleotide Treatment Process Explained

  • Consultation and Assessment -During your initial consultation with your Dr Leah doctor, they will take time to understand your concerns, expectations, and desired outcomes and advise if polynucleotides treatment is the best option for you. Our cosmetic doctors will assess the area you want treated (under-eye, cheeks, around mouth or neck).

  • Treatment - You can have your first polynucleotide treatment on the day of your initial consultation or you can book a treatment for a time of your convenience. Depending on your needs, you will require 2-3 polynucleotide treatments each 2-4 weeks apart.

  • Polynucleotides Injection - Needle or cannula can be used to carefully inject the Polynucleotides solution into the under-eye area, cheeks, around the mouth or neck. The injections are strategically placed to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, or dark circles / hollows under eyes.

  • Post-Treatment Care and Recovery - Recovery from polynucleotide treatment with needle may take several days to recover from due to the presence of blebs from treatment and possibility for bruising. Cannula treatment has little or no downtime.

  • Follow-Up and Results - Your treatment will be performed every 2-4 weeks (normally 3 treatments in total). We then advise a top-up single treatment every 6-12 months to sustain your result. While some initial results may be visible soon after the treatment, the full benefits of Polynucleotide rejuvenation tend to be seen several months after completing the treatment.

Polynucleotides Reviews

Here’s what our clients have to say…
Best treatment for dark circles and trust me I have tried everything! After 2 sessions of Polynucleotide with the amazing Dr Cian my dark circles are so much improved. Thank you!

Beena, 43
My eyes have always been my problem area, Dr Sidra advised I would need to have both morpheus8 and Polynucleotide to make me look less tired and old because of my eyes, it has provided me with a lovely improvement. I would like to recommend morpheus8 and polynucleotide for someone who has aged eyes. Thank you and see you soon!

Ruth, 57
I had puffiness from my tear trough filler and had to have it dissolved but I still needed something for my under eye as I looked hollow and wrinkled there, I saw on Instagram that Dr Leah Clinic offered a new treatment for under eyes so booked to see Dr Leah who suggested Polynucleotide injections for under my eyes, I have had 3 sessions and the results are literally perfect and NO PUFFINESS. Anyone considering tear trough filler NEEDS to have this instead!

Shannon, 34

Why Does the Cost of Polynucleotide Treatment Vary Between Different Clinics?

The cost of polynucleotide treatments can vary between different clinics - this is based on several factors, including the quality of the product offered. While we keep our costs competitive, we prioritise quality of products and expertise of practitioners over providing the cheapest service

We ensure that our treatments deliver the highest quality and best results through a combination of premium products and expert practitioners.

We use the renowned Polynucleotide brand Ameela, known for its advanced formulations. This includes higher concentrations of polynucleotides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants, which enhance the effectiveness and longevity of the treatment.

Our treatments are administered exclusively by industry-leading aesthetic doctors, whose extensive expertise ensures that you receive the safest, most effective care possible.

How long does Polynucleotide treatment last?

Results typically last 6-9 months. A single top-up session is then recommended to sustain the result.

What is the difference between Polynucleotides treatment for under eyes and traditional under eye filler/Tear Trough Filler?

Polynucleotides (PN) is a very thin water-like substance which improves skin quality whereas traditional under eye filler/Tear Trough filler is hyaluronic acid which is a much more viscous substance and is designed to fill hollows under eyes.

Polynucleotide treatment works with the body's DNA to promote cellular regeneration. This innovative treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, which are essential proteins for maintaining the skin's structure and elasticity and works to treat fine lines and dark eye circles.

There has been a recent rise in searches for ‘under eye fillers gone wrong’. This is due to the fact that hyaluronic acid-based fillers in tear trough filler can sometimes make the under-eye area appear puffier, as hyaluronic acid attracts water and can migrate. Polymononucleotide eyes will not ‘fill’ the under eye area and will not cause puffiness or migration of the product. With Nucleadyn Eyes the focus is on achieving natural-looking results that enhance the skin's elasticity, reduce pigmentation and minimise fine lines and wrinkles.

What is the downtime for Polynucleotide treatment?

The Polynucleotide treatment can be performed with either a cannula or a needle. Recovery from needle takes longer than from cannula due to the appearance of blebs on the skin. Recovery from polynucleotide treatment with needle 1-2 days. Recovery from polynucleotide treatment with cannula is typically 12- 24 hours.

Are polynucleotides a better solution for my under eye treatment vs Tear Trough Filler?

This depends on how your under-eye looks and what you wish to treat. If your concern is hollows only and you are not prone to puffiness (eye bags) under eyes then tear trough filler is the best option.

If you are concerned with fine lines / crepey skin under the eye and / or dark circles OR you're prone to eye puffiness (eye bags) then Polynucleotides eyes is the best option.

Polynucleotides (PN) is a very thin water-like substance that improves skin quality on a cellular level whereas traditional under eye filler/Tear Trough filler is hyaluronic acid gel which is a much more viscous substance and is used to fill hollows under eyes.

Polynucleotide treatment works with the body's DNA to promote skin regeneration. This innovative treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, which are essential proteins for maintaining the skin's structure and elasticity and work to treat fine lines and dark eye circles.

Tear trough filler can sometimes make the under-eye area appear puffier, as hyaluronic acid attracts water and can migrate. Polymononucleotide eyes will not ‘fill’ the under eye area and will not cause puffiness or migration of the product.

Below is a guide to choosing the best treatment for your specific concern:

- More natural-looking results: Polynucleotides gradually improve skin quality, avoiding potential overfilling and a "done" look.

- Better for skin health: Polynucleotides stimulate collagen and elastin production, leading to long-term improvement in skin quality.

- Fewer side effects: Polynucleotides are generally considered less risky than fillers, with minimal downtime and rare allergic reactions.

- Suitable for sensitive skin: Polynucleotides may be preferable for those with thin or sensitive skin.

Under-eye fillers might be a better option for...

- Significant volume loss: Fillers can effectively address very deep tear troughs and hollowness that polynucleotides wouldn't.

- Immediate results: Fillers offer instant correction for those seeking a quick turnaround.

Ultimately, the best choice for you depends on your individual concerns and desired outcome. Consulting our highly qualified aesthetic doctors is crucial to understand your options and make an informed decision based on your specific needs and goals.

What are the Key Benefits of the Polynucleotide Treatment?

Polynucleotides offer a number of benefits:

1. Minimise Dark Circles - One of the primary concerns for many individuals is the presence of dark circles under the eyes. Polynucleotide treatment reduces the pigmentation and discoloration that contribute to the appearance of these dark circles. Impressively, results show that Polynucleotide Eyes improves under-eye brightness in individuals by over 32 percent in as little as 4 weeks.

2. Improves Skin Elasticity - Loss of skin elasticity is a common sign of aging, leading to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Polynucleotide treatment promotes greater skin elasticity, restoring a more youthful and supple appearance to the under-eye area. Polynucleotides are proven to increase skin elasticity by 22 percent on average in just weeks.

3. Reduces the look of under-eye hollows - Deep tear troughs can create a tired and sunken look. While Polynucleotides do not fill out these hollows like traditional filler, the treatment does help to subtly reduce the appearance of these under-eye depressions by plumping and rejuvenating the skin in this area.

4. Increases Cell Turnover - Cell turnover is essential for maintaining healthy and vibrant skin. Polynucleotide treatment increases cell turnover, resulting in a fresher and more rejuvenated under-eye area.

5. Protects Against Free Radical Damage - Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage the skin and accelerate the aging process. Polynucleotide eyes possesses antioxidant properties that help protect the under-eye area from free radical damage, promoting overall skin health.

6. Hydrated Under Eyes - Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin that helps retain moisture and maintain hydration. Polynucleotides stimulates higher hyaluronic acid synthesis, ensuring that the under-eye area remains hydrated and plump.

7. Minimises Fine Lines and Wrinkles - Fine lines and wrinkles can be a source of frustration for many individuals. Polynucleotide treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production. The improved skin elasticity reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, helping to promote a smoother under-eye area

8. Improved Skin Texture - Polynucleotides have the ability to improve skin texture, creating a smoother and more refined under-eye area. This treatment can help reduce the appearance of roughness and unevenness, resulting in a refreshed and youthful look.

Is the Polynucleotide Treatment Safe?

Polynucleotides are created from salmon DNA using a proprietary process. There is an extraction and purification process which ensures the safety and compatibility of the product for use in human skin.

What is the Difference Between Polynucleotide and Profhilo Treatment?

Both polynucleotide and Profhilo treatments are popular injectable options for skin rejuvenation, but they have key differences in their composition, mechanisms of action, and suitability for different concerns. Both Polynucleotides and Profhilo are skin boosters but are made up of different ingredients and work in different ways:

Polynucleotides are DNA extracts which is a form of “regenerative medicine”. It is a water-based substance that stimulates your own body’s collagen and elastin production to create healthier, younger-looking, rejuvenated skin by working on a cellular level. It does not contain hyaluronic acid, so does not draw in water or give much plumping of the skin as Profhilo does.

Profhilo is hyaluronic acid which is injected into the skin to give hydration and plumping, but it does not regenerate the skin on a cellular level in the way polynucleotide does. Profhilo is a thicker (more viscous product) which acts like a ‘honey', spreading under the skin and drawing in water to give a more plumped appearance than Polynucleotides tend to.

Polynucleotides can be used around eyes and on forehead whereas Profhilo cannot. Both polynucleotides and Profhilo are suitable for use on cheeks, neck, décolletage and stomach.

Both polynucleotides and Profhilo require a course of initial treatments (minimum of 2) then a single treatment top up every 6-9 months.

How Do Polynucleotides Work When Injected Into the Skin?

When polynucleotides are injected into the skin, they work by stimulating the body’s natural repair mechanisms, repairing damaged cells, boosting collagen and elastin production. They also possess anti-inflammatory properties, so can reduce redness and swelling, making them useful for treating conditions like acne and rosacea. Polynucleotides increase the skin’s ability to retain moisture, resulting in a more hydrated complexion, so they are excellent for treating dry / dehydrated skin. They can accelerate the wound healing process, helping to minimise recovery from ablative procedures like laser treatments or microneedling, and can be used to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and acne scarring. Dr Leah uses polynucleotides with subscision to treat stubborn acne scarring and has had good results with this.

How Many Polynucleotide Treatments Do I Need?

Typically 2-3 polynucleotide treatments are required, each 2-4 weeks apart.

IS Polynucleotide Treatment Painful?

Polynucleotide treatment involves injections and the pH of the product means it is more “stingy” than some other injectable treatments. Based on the area being treated & the method (cannula or needle) your Dr Leah Clinic doctor may use either topical numbing cream or injectable anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort.

Am I Suitable For Polynucleotide Treatment?

Most people will be suitable for polynucleotide treatment. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding this treatment is not suitable. If you are vegan this treatment is not suitable as it is an animal-derived product.
