What results can I expect from Obagi Blue Peel?

  • Overall a younger looking, healthier skin
  • Skin refinement reduction in pore size
  • Chemical peel for hyperpigmentation -Removal of blemishes and pigmented areas
  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin tightening, dependent on depth of peel
  • Chemical face peel acne - removal of superficial scarring e.g. acne

What is the Obagi Blue Peel (medium depth) chemical face peel?

Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) is combined with a special blue base to ensure the optimum outcome. TCA is commonly used in peels because of its proven effectiveness in gently removing outer layers of skin. These peels are often referred to as a TCA Peel.

When you have our Obagi Blue Skin Peel, your skin will quickly be rejuvenated; skin tone, pores, pigmentation and tightness of the skin will be improved, giving the overall effect of younger, healthier skin.

This TCA peel is also an excellent chemical face peel acne scarring treatment and chemical peel for hyperpigmentation.

Due to TCA’s strength it should only be applied by doctors, and only after the prescribed skin preparation is complete. Patients are required to follow the Obagi NU DERM skin regime for 4 to 12 weeks prior to having a TCA peel, depending on skin colour.

More info on Obagi Blue Peel

Do I need to prepare my skin before having this peel?

Yes. You will need to follow the Obagi Nu Derm skincare regime for 4 to12 weeks prior to having your peel as an essential part of the treatment. It will not be possible to have the Obagi Blue Peel without first preparing your skin with the Nu Derm products

Do I need to aftercare products?

Yes – you will require medical grade moisturiser and SPF

What areas can this TCA Peel be used on?

The Obagi Blue Peel can be used to rejuvenate the skin on face, neck, chest or hands

Does Obagi Blue Peel hurt?

There is some discomfort associated with the peel which is generally a burning or stinging sensation. Some clients find it helpful to take simple painkillers 30 minutes before their peel appointment.

How many Obagi Blue Peels will I need?

For most patients, one peel along with the pre-care Obagi Nu Derm regime is enough to give the desired results. This is dependent on your individual skin concern and the level or result you want to achieve.

A second Obagi Blue Peel may be repeated 7 weeks after the first, and you may consider repeating it every few years to maintain the results.

What can I expect after my Obagi Blue Peel?

Your skin will have a blue tint for the first day after treatment. After 2 days your skin will begin to peel and this will continue for an average of 10 days.

Depending on profession, some patients opt to take a week to 10 days off work to allow their skin to heal and begin to look normal. It is important that you to stay out of the sun as much as possible until your skin has fully recovered, as it will be very susceptible to sun damage with the outer layers removed.

Are there any side effects?

Depending on your skin type and home care regimen, a skin peel may cause increased sensitivity.

Side effects may include (but aren’t limited to): stinging, itching, irritation, redness, swelling, tightness, peeling and scabbing of the skin, scarring, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation.
