BBL & MOXI Aftercare Guide: What to Do After Your Treatment

Following the correct BBL and MOXI aftercare is important for protecting your skin and getting the best from your treatment. From sun exposure to exercise and skincare, here are the key things to know.
What to Expect After BBL & MOXI
After BBL HERO, you may experience mild redness or warmth, while areas of pigmentation can temporarily darken before gradually fading.
After MOXI, the skin may feel warm and look red before developing a slightly rough, sandpaper-like texture. Tiny dark spots known as MENDs can appear and naturally shed over the following days.
Avoid picking, scrubbing or exfoliating the skin while it heals.
Sun Exposure & Holidays
Avoid direct sun exposure while your skin is healing and be particularly careful with prolonged time outdoors. Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 daily, reapply regularly and use additional protection such as hats and shade.
If you're planning a sunny or beach holiday, tell your practitioner before treatment. BBL and MOXI should be planned around significant sun exposure rather than immediately before a holiday.
Exercise, Saunas & Heat
Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sweating for around 24–48 hours after treatment, or longer if your skin remains red or sensitive.
Saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers and other sources of excessive heat should also be avoided during the initial recovery period.
Skincare & Retinol
Keep your skincare routine simple while your skin heals. Focus on a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF, and temporarily avoid scrubs, exfoliating acids and other irritating active ingredients for at least 5 days after.
Retinol and prescription retinoids should also be paused until your skin has fully recovered. Your practitioner will advise you when to gradually restart your normal routine.
Makeup
After BBL Hero or MOXI, you can apply makeup immediately afterwards however we would advise to wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup. Your skin will become reasonably dry so may not be the best base for flawless makeup. Your practitioner will be able to advise more accurately based on your skin type, concern or reason for treatment.
Maintaining Your Results
Once your skin has recovered, daily SPF and a good skincare routine are essential. Treatments can improve existing signs of sun damage, but ongoing UV exposure can contribute to new pigmentation.
Are you deciding which pigmentation treatment would be right for you? See whether BBL, Moxi or a combination of both would help you achieve amazing skin.
